Project Description
Structura served as the structural engineer of record for the Prince St. Hotel, a six-story development rising from a former parking lot in Alexandria, VA. This new hotel will feature 109 guest rooms, an onsite restaurant, and a rooftop pool, offering guests both comfort and convenience just a quarter mile from the King Street Metro Station. Structura’s role included designing the building’s structural system to accommodate the unique urban site and align with the city’s Green Building guidelines.
The project required careful planning and engineering to ensure structural stability while also integrating sustainability features. Structura’s work included designing the foundation system to support the building’s vertical load and ensuring the roof structure would safely support the rooftop pool. Additionally, the structural design had to account for the integration of public art elements into the building’s façade, adding to the aesthetic appeal and character of the area.
Throughout the project, Structura worked closely with the design team to ensure the building's structural integrity, sustainability goals, and aesthetic vision were all met, contributing to the creation of a vibrant new hotel that enhances the surrounding neighborhood.
