Project Description
When the World Bank’s I Building required significant mechanical upgrades, including the removal and replacement of three chillers and three cooling towers, Structura was entrusted to provide expert structural engineering services as the structural engineer of record for GHT Limited. The chillers were located within the existing mechanical penthouse, while the cooling towers were positioned outside the penthouse and supported by steel roof dunnage.
Project scope began with a comprehensive assessment of the existing conditions. This included detailed surveys of the steel dunnage supporting the cooling towers to evaluate its structural integrity. We meticulously reviewed the proposed equipment and associated designs, ensuring the compatibility and structural soundness of the new steel dunnage and platform framing. Additional scope extended beyond steel dunnage, encompassing the design of necessary concrete repairs and reinforcements to accommodate the new equipment and optimize performance. Structura also developed thorough construction documents and provided ongoing construction administration services, ensuring the smooth execution of the project.
By balancing technical precision with strategic planning, Structura facilitated a seamless upgrade of the I Building’s mechanical systems. Our efforts ensured the structural integrity and safety of the facility while minimizing disruption to its operations, exemplifying our commitment to delivering innovative, reliable solutions for complex engineering challenges.
