The World Bank G Building is an eight-story conventionally reinforced concrete structure that sits atop three additional below-grade levels - two of which are used for parking - encompassing approximately 35,000 SF. In early 2020, Structura was asked to visit the site to review spalled concrete on the underside of the first parking level. During the assessment, it was determined that the damage was not isolated to one area and that a complete survey was required. Structura performed the survey and developed repair documents, including detailed solutions for correcting the damaged areas identified.
Serving as the Owner’s representative, Structura facilitated the project bidding process, provided administrative construction services throughout repairs, and hired a testing company to perform tests throughout the structure to get a better understanding of the existing conditions, including compressive tests using core samples to determine the strength of the concrete and chloride testing to determine the amount of chlorides present.
