CHALLENGE
When Novant Health (NH) sought to merge their Cancer Institute with Heart & Vascular services into one centralized, state-of-the-art facility, Structura was proud to lend their expertise to help reflect NH’s community commitment of meeting the growing demands for specialized treatment. Project scope included delivering a cohesive space to consolidate fragmented services after two decades of piece meal renovations, plus a new parking deck to accommodate increased traffic.
RESULT
A new 7-story outpatient facility adjacent to the existing NH Presbyterian medical center that maintains a seamless connection to the main building through existing over-street bridges and a newly added connector to ensure continuity of care and patient accessibility. It features tumor-specific clinics (ie. breast, head & neck, GI, GU, high-risk, oncology, hematology, thoracic, therapeutic research, and neuro), high-dose radiation (HDR) treatment spaces and linear accelerator rooms, 80 infusion bays, and Phase I research labs to support NH’s ongoing commitment to innovation. Additional non-clinical spaces were strategically integrated, such as a rehabilitation and prevention center, central lab, retail pharmacy, café, resource room, and quiet room to enhance patient experience and support services.
