When Novant Health (NH) aimed to centralize their Cancer Institute and Heart & Vascular services into a single, state-of-the-art facility, Structura was proud to contribute its expertise to help meet the growing demand for specialized care. The project’s scope involved creating a cohesive space to consolidate services that had been fragmented by decades of incremental renovations, along with the addition of a new parking deck to accommodate increased traffic.

The result was a seven-story outpatient facility located adjacent to the existing NH Presbyterian Medical Center, with a seamless connection to the main building via existing over-street bridges and a newly added connector to ensure continuity of care and patient accessibility. The facility houses a range of specialized treatment areas, including tumor-specific clinics (breast, head & neck, GI, GU, high-risk, oncology, hematology, thoracic, therapeutic research, and neuro), high-dose radiation (HDR) treatment spaces, linear accelerator rooms, 80 infusion bays, and Phase I research labs that support NH’s commitment to innovation.

In addition to the clinical spaces, the design incorporated key non-clinical areas such as a rehabilitation and prevention center, central lab, retail pharmacy, café, resource room, and quiet room to enhance the overall patient experience. Structura’s work ensured the building’s structural integrity and efficiency while supporting NH’s vision for a comprehensive, patient-centered care environment.
