Scope of work at AARP’s Washington, DC Headquarters involved tenant improvements including surveying the existing conditions, coordinating with mechanical, architectural team members, preparing construction documents, reviewing bids from sub-contractors, and active in construction administration during construction phase. Structura's work included concrete reinforcing at new mechanical duct openings, structural strengthening at existing dunnage for building generator, interior monumental interconnecting stairs, precast façade modifications to suit new mechanical and architectural requirements. We also extended and expanded the new two-story lobby, and added two monumental stairs to connect multi-floor amenity space. Additional scope items included designing two separate 5+ story communicating stairs in two towers as well as providing support for new rooftop amenity spaces including trellises and a circular retractable shade structure.
