Project Description
Structura was proud to collaborate with Rounds VanDuzer Architects on the design and construction of the new 43,000 SF Whole Foods Market at the Walter Reed Town Center, playing a critical role in designing the structural system to support the complex needs of the space. Scope of work included engineering the structural components to accommodate key features like central escalators and elevators, which connect the store to the below-grade parking garage, ensuring seamless customer flow and access.
Given the high-traffic nature of the store, with its direct service to the surrounding businesses and multi-family residential units above, Structura’s team carefully engineered the vertical connections to meet safety, accessibility, and durability standards, while enhancing the overall customer experience. The project successfully integrated the market into the community, and Structura’s expertise was pivotal in supporting both the functional requirements and the long-term resilience of the space.
