Project Description
Structura was engaged to investigate a sudden vertical displacement observed in part of the Montgomery Executive Center, a six-story, steel-framed office building. Initially suspected to be caused by foundation settlement, Structura’s forensic investigation revealed the true cause: the failure of a severely corroded exterior steel column. Further examination uncovered widespread deterioration in other exterior columns, prompting an immediate closure of the building to ensure safety.
Project scope involved leading a rapid response effort to restore the building's structural integrity, including designing and implementing temporary column shoring, hydraulic jacking, and installing steel reinforcements at 19 exterior column bases. Structura collaborated closely with property management and multiple rehabilitation contractors to execute real-time remedial measures. Thanks to their swift and effective solutions, the building's structural integrity was restored, allowing it to reopen for tenant use in just 33 days, minimizing operational interference and ensuring tenant safety.
