Modena Reserve at Kensington is a five-level senior housing residence in the historic town of Kensington, MD, designed to offer 135 luxurious units for assisted living, independent living, and memory care residents. Developed by McCaffery Interests and Solera Senior Living, the project combines modern amenities with thoughtful integration of the site’s historic character.

Structura collaborated closely with Solera Senior Living to design the structural systems for the new residence, ensuring durability, efficiency, and adaptability to meet the needs of its diverse residents. The scope included designing for varied residential uses while accommodating communal spaces and modern mechanical systems essential for senior living. In addition to the new construction, Structura led the structural efforts for the renovation of two historic single-story retail buildings along the site’s eastern boundary. These structures were carefully preserved and integrated with the new development, requiring structural modifications to stabilize the existing masonry and create seamless connections between the old and new.
