Structura served as the structural engineer of record for the extensive renovation of the DC Water Headquarters, which began in early 2017. The project involved partial demolition of the existing concrete roof framing while the building remained fully operational, necessitating a carefully coordinated temporary shoring and bracing plan to ensure safety and maintain service continuity.

Project scope encompassed provided specialized structural engineering services, including detailed demolition sequencing, and temporary shoring and bracing designs. We conducted a thorough analysis of the existing structure to ensure it could safely support the temporary loads during the renovation. As the Contractor's design engineer, Structura developed comprehensive shoring drawings and a formal calculation package, which were submitted to the Engineer of Record. Our precise, collaborative approach ensured the building's operations continued uninterrupted, allowing the facility to maintain its critical function of delivering fresh drinking water to the city throughout the renovation.
