Structura is proud to have partnered with WTW Architects, Grimm + Parker Architects, and Manganaro MidAtlantic on the design and construction of Bowie State University’s New Student Union. This 95K SF facility will replace the existing Wiseman building and serve as the new campus focal point, offering a three-story atrium, bookstore, ballroom, and various student-focused amenities.

Project scope involved providing structural light gauge drawings and calculations for critical elements, including metal stud backup, parapet, soffit, and canopy framing. The project presented unique design challenges, such as large roof fin overhang soffits supporting curtainwall heads and a stepped soffit condition at the building entrance. Structura’s expertise ensured that these complex features were seamlessly integrated into the design, contributing to the New Student Union’s role as the welcoming “front door” of the campus.
