When BGE sought to renovate their Spring Gardens facility, Arris presented winning designs for flexible, collaborative training and conferencing facilities that would provide maximum functionality for employees and Structura was thrilled to help execute their vision. Initial project scope involved renovations to the existing building, comprised of both one- and two-story portions and framed with an open web bar joist roof on a structural steel frame. Modifications included removal and replacement of lobby skylights, demolition and reconstruction of the existing main staircase landing, and installation of two (2) suspended operable partitions to divide first floor conference rooms as needed. Additional scope later involved the design of two (2) outdoor structures, including a salt bath platform and vaporizer shelter. Structura’s team was responsible for:
- Analysis, design, and preparation of structural drawings for permits, bids, and construction
- Coordination with architect, MEP and other systems consultants
- Project administration- Review of structural-related shop drawings and submittals
- Site visit(s) to generally observe the construction progress
- Responses to structural RFI’s- Review of structural testing and inspection reports
