Project Description
Structura collaborated with Hickok Cole on The Corcoran, a striking mixed-use development at the corner of 14th and Corcoran Streets NW in Washington, DC. The six-story building features 35 residential units atop 4K SF of ground-floor commercial space, thoughtfully bridging the historic residential fabric of Corcoran Street with the dynamic arts and retail corridor of 14th Street.
Project scope included designing systems to support the building's complex architectural vision, with the structure combining two masonry volumes that echo the proportions and details of nearby historic properties and connected by a sleek, structurally glazed curtain wall system. This central feature provides a contemporary counterpoint, while the setback penthouse level preserves the neighborhood’s traditional scale. Structura’s expertise ensured the seamless integration of these elements, delivering a design that is both contextually sensitive and architecturally forward-thinking.
