Project Description
Structura served as the structural engineer of record in collaboration with Arris Design for the MD Auto Insurance Fund (MAIF) Headquarters relocation to Baltimore’s Locust Point neighborhood. The project involved significant tenant improvements to the existing Phillips Seafood building at McHenry Row, including an expansion from two to four stories.
Project scope encompassed structural design development and construction phase support, with key responsibilities including the design and installation of a custom monumental staircase, operable partition supports, and other critical structural elements. The team conducted a thorough survey of existing conditions, coordinated closely with the mechanical and architectural teams, and prepared construction documents. Structura also reviewed bids from subcontractors and provided ongoing support during construction administration.
The completed facility features expansive open office areas, multiple conference and training rooms, and achieved USGBC LEED-Gold certification under the Commercial Interiors Rating System. Structura’s expertise ensured the building's structural integrity while contributing to its sustainability and functional design.
