Structura was proud to serve as the structural engineer of record for 601 New Jersey Avenue, a distinctive 9-story office building located in Washington, DC. Spanning approximately 270K SF of office space and featuring three levels of underground parking, the building stands out as one of only two steel long-span office buildings in the city. The project utilized a composite steel frame—a relatively rare framing system in DC due to height restrictions. Structura played a key role in coordinating the MEP and sprinkler systems with steel beam placements to ensure the building's structural efficiency while meeting the required number of floors in a cost-effective manner. Developed as a public/private facility in partnership with the GSA and the Federal Trade Commission, 80% of the space was pre-leased to the government before being sold to an institutional investor.
