Also known as Franklin Square, 1300 Eye Street NW in Downtown DC was in need of upgrades, modifications, and improvements across it's existing 12 stories (ground-floor retail and 11 stories of office space) and Structura was honored to collaborate with Hickok Cole Architects on breathing new life back into this prominent building. Scope of work included the schematic design and design development for renovations of the 2-story lobby, concourse level, roof terrace, and garage. The grand lobby retained the building’s original columns and marble floors, accenting them with padded leather walls and custom artwork, while point-supported glass walls replaced entry doors and heavy bronze grillwork previously set into a deep arcade space to recapture it for interior amenities. The new open entry is also anchored by four illuminated canopies designed to draw the eye to reception and the a new tucked away café offering coffee and snacks for building tenants in a comfortable and welcoming environment, while also creating a strong visual connection to Franklin Square Park, the building’s namesake.
