In collaboration with Rust | Orling, Structura provided comprehensive structural engineering services for the design and construction of a new five-story mixed-use luxury residential building in historic Old Town Alexandria, just steps from the Potomac River. The project also included the renovation of an adjacent two-story structure, including the addition of a completely reimagined third floor. Together, these buildings now offer 16 premium residential units and ground-floor retail, all within a combined footprint of 72,600 SF.

Structura played a critical role in designing efficient structural systems that seamlessly integrated with the architectural vision while respecting the historic character of the surrounding neighborhood. For the new five-story building, we engineered systems to support mixed-use functionality, including ground-floor parking and retail spaces beneath high-end residential units. In the renovation of the adjacent building, we developed solutions to accommodate significant modifications, such as reinforcing the structure to support the new third floor and ensuring compatibility with modern building standards.
