Project Description
Structura served as the structural engineer of record for the Sagamore Spirit Distillery and Rye Street Tavern, part of Sagamore Development’s 90-acre mixed-use redevelopment plan in Port Covington. Collaborating with Ayers Saint Gross, Structura contributed to the design and construction of four buildings situated around a green courtyard, seamlessly integrated with the surrounding waterfront park.
The project scope included:
- Distillery Building: A 27K SF facility housing the distillery’s production equipment and operations.
- Processing Building: A 22K SF structure designed to support the distilling process.
- Restaurant: A 10K SF waterfront restaurant offering views of the surrounding area.
- Support Building: A 2K SF structure supporting the operations of the complex.
- Water Tower: A 120'H tower designed to hold water sourced from a natural spring at Sagamore Farm in Baltimore County.
- Waterfront Promenade: The project also includes a promenade that will eventually link to additional green space and other promenade areas in the future.
Structura’s scope included the development of structural systems that ensured each building met the project’s design intent while accommodating the unique functional and aesthetic requirements of a mixed-use waterfront development. The design incorporates elements inspired by Sagamore Farm, including red roofs, gray brick, and a stone façade on the restaurant. Structura’s work on the project supported the creation of a vibrant and sustainable waterfront destination, balancing architectural vision with engineering precision.
