Project Overview
As the Structural Engineer of Record, Structura played a pivotal role in the design and construction of The Bradley, a 10-story residential building near the Braddock Road Metro station in Alexandria, VA. This uniquely shaped, boomerang-style structure maximizes its footprint on a compact 1-acre lot, balancing density with an efficient and innovative use of space in a high-demand urban area.
Structural Solutions & Site Challenges
The project presented complex site challenges, including stringent new utility requirements and the integration of a large stormwater management tank to serve both the building and surrounding areas. Collaborating closely with ROA and the design team, Structura implemented structural solutions to accommodate these elements seamlessly. Additionally, we helped incorporate an extensive underground parking facility within these constraints, ensuring functional, accessible parking that supports the building’s dense design.
Lasting Community Impact
Now a defining presence nearly a decade after its completion, The Bradley serves as a landmark between Alexandria’s historic Old Town and the vibrant Del Ray neighborhood. It stands as a testament to our commitment to adaptive engineering, optimizing structural design to meet both current and future urban needs.
