Project Description
Set amidst the picturesque Montgomery County Agricultural Reserve, The Crossvines introduces a dynamic blend of hospitality, agriculture, and economic development to this historic region. Offering a restaurant, special events venue, and winery, this ambitious project reflects Montgomery County's commitment to fostering agritourism and investing in its rich farming heritage. Spearheaded by the Montgomery County Revenue Authority and developed by Weller Development Partners, The Crossvines also features educational programming, research facilities, and acres of demonstration vineyards to advance the local wine-making and agricultural industries.
Structura collaborated closely with Rust | Orling to design and support the construction of this remarkable mixed-use facility, providing comprehensive engineering services for the state-of-the-art clubhouse (~16,100 SF) and the adjoining wine production facility (~7,700 SF). These buildings seamlessly integrate advanced structural systems with the aesthetic and functional requirements of a venue that hosts diverse activities, from community events to wine production. Key structural challenges included designing for the unique spatial requirements of the wine production process, accommodating large event spaces with high ceilings, and ensuring the facility’s durability and sustainability to reflect the agricultural reserve's character. Structura’s expertise allowed for innovative solutions, such as specialized floor systems to support wine-making equipment and reinforced frameworks for the demonstration vineyards.
The Crossvines stands as a testament to thoughtful development and structural excellence, harmonizing modern amenities with the timeless traditions of Montgomery County's farming legacy. Structura is proud to have played a vital role in realizing this vision, supporting a project that enriches the local community and celebrates the region’s agricultural roots.
