This project involved extensive modifications to transform an existing big-box retail building into a new Heights Baptist Church facility in Richmond, VA, including:
- Significant façade updates, adding storefronts, tower features, & canopies
- A new auditorium space requiring the removal of up to six (6) existing columns to achieve 80’W clear spans
- Installation of a new framed roof structure over the vestibule & lobby, replacing the current roof above the existing Ollie’s entrance
- Roof reinforcement for new loading conditions, snow drift considerations, & support for rooftop mechanical units & an operable partition
- Stadium-style seating with concrete slab & light-gauge auditorium framing
- New exterior elements such as EIFS or composite panels, additional window openings, & parapet framing
- Lateral analysis & structural strengthening for CMU walls & new wall openings
- Field surveys & loading analysis of the mezzanine, with provisions for reinforcement design as needed
