Structura Associate Jon Tung, PE, is putting his talents to good use in a very different way than in his typical day-to-day responsibilities overseeing Structura’s rehabilitation work. Shortly after the tragic Nepal earthquake struck, he was called to serve as part of Fairfax County’s disaster response team on a humanitarian mission to Nepal.

Jon is working with a team of people and rescue dogs searching for survivors trapped by the deadly quake, and is shown in a photo in Saturday’s Washington Post that accompanied the article “Rescues they can’t forget.” The article profiles the team’s work, which included assisting with the rescue of a teenage boy who had been trapped under the rubble for five days. The team travels with heavy rigging equipment to lift concrete slabs and steel beams, and has worked together on previous missions in Haiti and  Turkey as part of the US government’s Disaster Assistance Response Team.

We could not be prouder of Jon’s humanitarian efforts, and salute his bravery and willingness to serve.
