Two separate plans for Firefly Park were approved by Frisco’s Planning and Zoning Committee on Oct. 23.
The approved plans call for the development of 424 urban-living units and 13.5 acres of space dedicated to a parking garage, hotel, retail, restaurants and amphitheater.
The first plan presented was for 191 urban-living units on the southwest corner of Stromile Way and Breezeway Boulevard. An additional plan for 233 urban-living units was also approved on 1.8 acres on the northwest corner of Stromile and Fireglass Way.
The parking garage, set for 3.6 acres on the southeast corner of Brixley Boulevard and Breezeway, was granted a 30-day extension on Sept. 23 to allow for additional changes to be made to the plan.
This item will be brought back before the commission on Nov. 12.
Additional items granted a 30-day extension include a hotel and office building on 3.8 acres of the southeast corner of Brixley and Breezeway, and 10 retail and restaurant spaces and an amphitheater on 6.1 acres on Brixley and Fireglass.
All items were on the commission’s consent agenda and approved unanimously.
Both items will also be brought before the commission on Nov. 12.
Kyle Wilks, CEO of Wilks Development, said in a prior interview that crews are working on mass grading, water and sewer infrastructure and utilities.
Firefly Park is located on the west side near the DNT and U.S. 380 intersection. The 217-acre project will be home to retail, commercial and residential developments as well as a 42-acre park.
Wilks said most of the horizontal construction will be done by June 1, 2025, with vertical work beginning around the same time.
The first phase will include 450,000 square feet of commercial space, high-rise residential, townhomes and the park. Wilks said the goal is to complete the park before any certificates of occupancy are issued for phase one.
Wilks said the projected opening date is in 2027.
